Data in the cloud sounds straightforward, but in practice many teams get stuck on the basics. What's actually the difference between a database and a data lake? When do you go with SQL, when with something else? And how does it all fit together in Azure? In this training we lay that foundation, so you can make informed choices.
What you'll learn
The DP-900 exam (Azure Data Fundamentals) tests your knowledge of data concepts and how they land in Azure services. Think relational and non-relational data, analytics, batch vs. streaming, and the role of services like Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and Synapse.
In my training we make those concepts concrete. We connect every topic to recognisable situations, so you don't just know the terms but also understand when to use what.
DP-900 — Official certification training (MCT)
This is an official DP-900 certification training. We use the learning objectives and materials from Microsoft Learn as Microsoft structures the exam. As a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) I can help you work towards the certificate in a structured way, while translating the concepts directly to your own practice.
What Microsoft says you'll learn
- Core data concepts and data workloads (transactional vs analytical)
- Different types of databases and data storage (relational/non-relational)
- Processing data in the cloud + which Azure data services fit where
Who is this for?
- Professionals who work with data and want to better understand the cloud side
- Teams that want a shared language around data in Azure
- People who want the DP-900 certificate, with understanding as the foundation
No deep technical background needed. If you know what a table is, you're good.
How this translates to my approach
We take one recognisable dataset or process (e.g. customer contacts, orders, sensor data, HR/finance) and use it as a frame to understand the difference between operational data (transactional) and analytical data. Then we "map" that to Azure choices: which storage fits here, when do you pick which database type, and what does processing in the cloud mean in plain language. You don't need to code anything, but you will learn how to ask the right questions and back up your choices.
