You can install Power BI in an afternoon. But using it well? That takes more than knowing the buttons. In this training we go through Power BI from start to finish: getting data, modelling, writing DAX, visualising and publishing. Not as tricks, but as a coherent whole.
What you'll learn
The PL-300 exam (Power BI Data Analyst Associate) covers the full journey: from preparing and modelling data to visualising, analysing and managing it. Sounds like a long list, but in practice everything connects.
In my training we focus on that connection. You learn not just how to do something, but why it works that way and what goes wrong when you skip a step. DAX becomes logical once you understand the model. And a good model starts with good questions.
PL-300 — Official certification training (MCT)
This is an official PL-300 certification training (Power BI Data Analyst). We work with the learning objectives and exam structure of Microsoft Learn. As a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) I help you work towards the certificate, with attention to the full picture: from getting data to modelling, DAX, visualisation and management in the service.
What Microsoft says you'll learn
- Preparing data in Power BI (connections, Power Query, data quality)
- Modelling data and creating calculations (data model + DAX)
- Visualising and analysing data (report design, interaction, insights)
- Managing and securing Power BI (workspaces, sharing, basic governance)
Who is this for?
- BI professionals and analysts who want to learn Power BI properly, not just the basics
- Teams that want to take their reporting to the next level
- People who want the PL-300 certificate with real understanding of the material
Some experience with Power BI is helpful. Completely new? Then the Getting started with Power BI workshop is a better starting point.
How this translates to my approach
We take one realistic case (preferably your own situation, otherwise a practice case) and walk through it end-to-end. Concretely: we start with what you solve in Power Query (cleaning, restructuring) versus what you solve in the model (star schema, relationships), and then we build a few "typical" DAX measures that come back in virtually every serious report (e.g. YTD, rolling, % of total, segment comparisons).
Finally, we improve the visualisations with a focus on readability and performance and show what needs to be set up properly in the Power BI Service to collaborate effectively.
